A Challenge to seek justice and sustain peace In Basilan

STATEMENTS:
Hamsa Sapantun (MILF chairman in Basilan) allegedly led a group of MILF rebels who attacked a team of the 1st Marine Brigade, triggering an almost 10-hour gun battle last July 10. Fourteen Marines were killed in the clash, 10 of whom were beheaded and mutilated.
